It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
